Maya Gabrielle Steinholtz 

I graduated at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2018, with furniture design as my speciality. Working with furniture design is one of my great passions in life. I find my inspiration in tactile materials, handcrafts and  the human needs.

 

I was born in Stockholm, Sweden, but Copenhagen has been my home since childhood. When i was 12 years old, I gave a wood-carved horse to my grandfather for his birthday (he was a wood skulpurer, so i thought that was the perfect gift for him), he got so exited about it that he took it to some of the stores in Stockholm where he was selling his own sculptures and asked them if they where interested. And, just like that, my first ‘job’ was selling wood sculptures. I've been working with sculpturing  and design ever since.

 

I have a great interest for the relationship between space, object and human, and my projects are often affected by this. I enjoy working with the impact of spaces and the objects in them. Simplicity and poetry are always among my goals, in my work as well as in life.
